El Yunque
Rain Forest - (pronounced "joon' keh") beautiful
but reminded us how fortunate we are to live on the west coast where
we see stuff as spectacular just hours from our door.

Diary
Day
6 - Sunday Check out and bus to airport to pick up rental car. First
stop: El Yunque Rain Forest. Saw some lovely flora, many locals (it
was the weekend) picnicking and swimming. Then, we drive to Fajardo
and the El Conquistador Resort (where Goldfinger was filmed). Cab to
ferry dock - pay our $2 each to get on 1.5 hour ferry ride to Vieques.
Walk to guesthouse (2 blocks). Head down the street to recommended bar
for grub. Find out no food tonight as the cook is in jail. Eat in restaurant
where owner/server seems way to tired of life to be bothered with making
our stay pleasant, but food is great. Back to guesthouse to chat with
our hosts: let them know about cook, which, we find out later, turns
out to be their friend who got busted for possession of cocaine.
